A perfect fit

One of the most common questions asked by those considering our ponies and zoo for an event is whether their location provides enough space for our services.  The answer is that we don’t require much space at all, unless it’s an animal with a specific need*.

A flat surface is the most important need, and from there, our crew will survey the area for the best fit. As shown in the photographs above and below, we converted a small courtyard at Emek Hebrew Academy in Sherman Oaks into a full petting zoo that consisted of a large pen for several small animals, a more secure pen for our camel, and ponies tied in the open for petting.

Where there’s a straightaway, there’s a path for ponies. This can be something as simple as a long driveway or parking lot, or as we did for the Emek Academy, simply used the sidewalk in front of the structure. The less traffic on the street, is the better chance that this will fulfill our need.

If you are still not sure your location provides the amount of space needed for your order, you can always move your party to a more spacious public park, and we’ll Giddy Up on over.

* Z-Donk rentals require space that allows the animal to be unloaded and caged directly off the truck. So even though your party is in the backyard, the Z-Donk pen would be situated in front for safe and efficient pick-up and delivery. Call Marie for more details.

New: Guided Trail Rides

Giddy Up Ranch has increased the entertainment options by adding guided trail rides for you and your party.  The process is fairly simple. You select the number of horses and a destination, and a guide will meet you at the location of your choice.

Upon arrival, we will get you in the saddle and out on the trail for an afternoon of horseback riding in the open country. Be it mountains, beaches, or desert, your request is easily fulfilled.

Prices will vary according to horse rentals and the distance of your preferred location. Some riding experience is required, because we are specifically here to guide you along the trail, and not train you to get in the saddle.

Guided trail rides are subject to availability, so be sure to book yours early to guarantee your target date.

Reward them for a job well done

With the school year quickly coming to a close, several teachers and districts have chosen to reward students for their work, while also taking advantage of our weekly specials.

In Manhattan Beach, our pony rides and petting zoo accented the “Frontier Day” celebration, which also included other old west activities. We appreciate the assistance from the many volunteers, and working together, we were able accommodate each preschool class within the time allotted.

The Rialto school district denied funding for activities, but that didn’t stop teachers from delivering a well deserved reward to students. Taking advantage of our specials, kindergarten teachers pooled their resources to bring Giddy Up on site. It was a mobile field trip that allowed students to remain at their home location, thereby eliminating the cost of fuel and bus services. It also enabled all Kindergarten classes to participate, instead of a token few, which is often the case for off-campus field trips.

Giddy Up was also proud to participate in an annual Bakersfield event that focuses on special needs children. We delivered 12 ponies powering two carousels, separated by a petting zoo large enough to provide wheelchair access. Assisted by local high school students, 500 children were treated to rides and introduced to animals they may have read or heard about but never saw up close.  The day would end with another group of satisfied customers, and we will gladly load it up and do it all again next year.

It’s never too late to book your event, because our specials run throughout the year. Whether your school is year-round or you host summer camps, Giddy up is willing and waiting to serve you.
